How to properly replace headlight bulbs

As a rule, the bulbs in the headlights of the car burn out and have to be replaced with a regularity of 1 every 1.5-2 years. In today's models of cars bulbs replacement is quite a power to own motorists. Today we will try to make a replacement best led h1 bulb in the headlights with their own hands.

To begin with a few words about the bulbs themselves. For headlights (low and high beam) are used halogen bulbs. When working with them, you need to be extremely careful. Under no circumstances should you touch the glass bulb of the lamp with your hands. Lamps become very hot during operation and any fingerprints or oil you leave behind will quickly cause the lamp to malfunction. If you accidentally touch the glass bulb bulb, be sure to wipe the bulb with a cloth soaked in alcohol. Protect the lamp also from scratches, because they, too, can cause damage to the lamp.

So, let's begin. To begin with, open the hood of the car. You can replace the bulbs with or without removing the headlight. The headlight itself is easy to remove: you need to loosen the mounting bolts and remove the headlight from the car body.

Then you need to disconnect the power connector at the back of the headlight. The lamp itself is protected from moisture and dirt by a special cover. It must be removed by turning it counterclockwise. It happens that the cover is difficult to unscrew. In this case, you can pick it up lightly with a screwdriver.

Now the hard part: you need to detach the metal clasp-fix that holds the lamp in the headlight hole. It is quite rigid. You need to press the end of the clasp - a lock and slide it up. After that carefully take out the lamp with the base from the headlight. The damaged bulb is taken out. And of course a piece of advice from the old-timers: before you take out a busted bulb be sure to remember (or better write down) the location of the contacts on the socket. The new bulb must be inserted so that the contacts on the socket are exactly the same! Carefully, taking care not to touch the glass bulb with your fingers, insert the bulb into the base and then into the hole in the headlight. After that, unhook the clasp, aligning it with the notch on the bulb. Replace the lamp cover by turning it clockwise and attach the power connector. If you removed the headlamp from the car bumper, reinstall it in place and secure the headlamp by tightening the mounting bolts.

After installing the lamp, don't forget to check the operation of the headlight. A tip from the pros on choosing bulbs for your car headlamps: headlight bulbs with a 4H 60/55 socket are the best for your car. Firm - manufacturer can choose to your liking. On some packages are labeled +30% or +50%. These bulbs can also be used. But in this case, you will have to replace both bulbs in the left and right headlights at once, as there is a risk that the new bulb will shine stronger. And also, as a rule, the service life of these bulbs is slightly shorter than that of standard bulbs, so they burn out faster.
